Pilot project for safer cycling connections in the Hull sector

The City of Gatineau has awarded a contract for a pilot project aimed at improving cycling safety in the Hull sector. The project involves creating bike lanes separated from vehicular traffic on Montclair Boulevard and Saint-Rédempteur Street, between the Rapibus corridor and the Île Trail.

The goal is to test different temporary solutions to determine which options provide safer cycling connections that are better suited to the realities of Gatineau's road network. Three types of physical separation will be tested: rigid bollards, concrete curbs with flexible bollards, and a combination of both.

The installations must remain in place year-round. The city also plans to include marking and signage work as part of the project's implementation.

The work is scheduled to be done in the autumn and will take approximately two months.
