Gatineau cyclist Filipe Duarte sets his sights on the Tour de l’Avenir

Gatineau cyclist Filipe Duarte is preparing for one of the most important events of his young career. He is representing Canada at the Tour de l’Avenir, a prestigious international race for road cyclists under 23, which takes place in France from August 20 to 26.

Duarte is one of six cyclists selected by Cycling Canada for this seven-stage competition. The route will begin in Normandy, at Caen La Mer, before heading to the southeast of the country. The final stages will take place in the Alps, including two in Haute-Savoie.

The Gatineau native already has some experience in international competition. Cycling Canada highlights that he has participated in several official Union Cycliste Internationale races.

For Duarte, this selection represents another opportunity to test himself against some of the best cyclists of his generation. He will be joined by Adam Smith, Monty Rigby, Sam Couture, Gabriel Seguin, and Carson Mattern on the Canadian team.

The Tour de l’Avenir starts on August 20 and finish six days later.
