The Friends of Fort-la-Blanche invite all to come celebrate their official constitution anniversary during a day of exploration and observation.
On Saturday, October 14, the Friends of Forte-la-Blanche invite all to celebrate two decades of protecting “one of the last representative examples of old-growth forest in south-western Quebec”.
The public will have free access to trails from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and can expect forest observation games, door prizes, a cash only BBQ which will be served from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, followed by wine and cheese from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
Fort-la-Blanche is located on the territory of the municipalities of Mulgrave-and-Derry, Mayo and Saint-Sixte in the MRC of Papineau and covers an area of 2,052 hectares. Containing over 400-year-old varieties of trees and plants that are marked as threatened or vulnerable, its longevity is due to a major citizen movement of volunteers.
The Friends of Fort-la-Blanche have made it possible for trails to be accessible year-round and offer educational programs on ecosystem protection.
The celebration of Friends of Fort-la-Blanche’s 20th anniversary will be an opportunity to celebrate the volunteer work of those who have made the ecological reserve’s longevity possible.
In the event of rain, the event will be moved to Sunday, October 15.
