18-year-old suspected in kidnapping and sexually assaulting minor

Gatineau Police have arrested an 18-year-old man for sexual offences against a minor.

Officers arrived at an apartment building in the Lac-Beauchamp district shortly before 8 pm on August 22 for a possible child abduction. At the scene, police met with a young girl who explained she was confined and sexually assaulted by a stranger.

The suspect was identified and arrested later in the evening. The 18-year-old remained in custody until his appearance before the Court of Québec on August 23. Several charges including kidnapping, sexual interference, and sexual assault with a weapon were submitted against him.
